New Science Education Standards

This posting is more for those who are affected by the science education standards.  If you haven’t taken a look at the first draft of the Next Generation Science Standards, the draft is available for review through June 1, 2012.  With a shift in emphasis towards a more systems approach to teaching/learning science, an inclusion of engineering throughout science teaching, a focus on science for everyone (not just for those who can grasp calculus-based physics courses, or DNA coding, for example), and a need to show how science is relevant to our daily lives, the new science standards divert from those that were published in 1996.
