Holidays at NASA Headquarters

We just finished a round of holiday parties at the different offices/directorates here at NASA Headquarters, and this year I helped with the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (my directorate) holiday party.  It was lots of fun, and as a teacher, I’ve had many years of experience with holiday parties. 🙂  A highlight of the party here this year was a visit to our directorate by Charlie Bolden, the Administrator of NASA.  It was the first time I’ve met him in person, and it was great to get a chance to talk to him for a couple of minutes.  You know, you spend so much time reading e-mails, watching videos, and even watching what comes out on the tv, etc. in regards to people and places that it’s often hard to get a sense of what someone is really like in person.  I was inspired after meeting Mr. Bolden.  He is a genuinely nice guy who loves what he does, loves the employees here at NASA, and believes in NASA.  Not a bad leader, eh?  Anyway, here’s a photo we had taken of Bolden, co-workers Maria and Erika, me, and the Associate Administrator of my directorate, Jaiwon Shin:
